Matapedia River Lodge

Your Host

In 2011 and after more than 35 years in the field of performing arts and filming, the final decision to make my biggest dream come true really became easier.

Six years of clearing and cleaning, cutting trees, earthwork and all that follows in free time, finally the big day arrived and the construction of the hostel in June 2011.

I have been fishing for many species of fish since the age of 6, and there is nothing like fly-fishing for Atlantic salmon. I captured my first salmon for life on the (The Forks) pool on the Matapedia River and I have become addicted like many since that time. I also owned a fishing shop in Gaspé where I offered guide services.

Unfortunately the dream of building an inn was not possible ... It was during a return to my first river that I discovered the perfect place to build my lodge ....

La Serge J Vincent création André Bélaieff

A guide since the beginning of the mid eighties, FQSA accredited, it is very rewarding to pass on his passion, his knowledge to a fisherman and to see his smile of satisfaction at the end of the day.

Salmon fishing is not only about "catching" salmon, it's also about living with all that surrounds this fishery, its history and legends, nature, the soothing tune of the river, singing birds and the enveloping fragrance of its trees and wildflowers.

My greatest passions have always been and will remain fly fishing and salmon. This passion led me to surpass myself in flies editing and create several very effective fly patterns. Thanks to one of my creations, Serge Vincent, I had the honor of being a judge at the FQSA Salmon Fly World Championship.
