Starting in 2026, moose hunting will no longer operate on an alternating system of permissive and restrictive years.

To hunt antlerless moose (any moose with antlers measuring less than 10 cm),
hunters must have won an antlerless moose hunting permit in a lottery.

NON RESIDENT

Like a resident hunter, you must comply with the rules that apply to the zone licence for moose and the requirement
to purchase your licence before midnight on the date if you wish to use it during the firearm hunting season.

However, you cannot participate in the (lottery) to obtain an antlerless moose hunting permit (lottery).
So you are limited to hunt moose with antlers.

The antlerless moose hunting permit lottery will be gradually implemented in certain targeted
hunting zones, while in other zones, the current regulations will continue to apply.
The list of affected zones will be posted online in early 2026.

Starting in the fall of 2026, the Ministry will use the term "antlerless moose" (ASM) for calves
and females in the regulations. This change will be in effect province-wide.

Private territory

Located in Routhierville, in the Matapédia River Valley,
moose hunting is a tradition that has been going on there for many years.

We offer you a territory that is exclusive to the lodge, there are several trails
and is located near the lodge, access on foot, by pick-up and by ATV.
Ideal territory for prospecting on foot and those who want shelter, everything is there!

All hunters are warmly invited to visit the hunting grounds each season.
From late May to mid-June, you will have the opportunity to set up the salt licks (using the salt blocks we provide)
and mudflats to your liking. You can stay two or three nights, with meals included, free of charge in double occupancy.

There are already blinds in some locations, but we plan to replace some and install others in the spring,
so you will have the opportunity to find a prime spot that suits you.

​This can also be a good opportunity for some of you to fly fish for spring Atlantic Salmon Fishing

OUR ROLE AS AN OUTFITTER

It is to ensure you a sustainable hunt in a healthy environment. This year we acquired a territory
very close to the outfitter with for 3 years, cuts which allows a good source of food from year to year.

Being aware of the increasing hunting pressure, we want to maintain a good population and a good balance of moose in our sector.

This is why the number of moose killed per group will be limited to allow a quality hunt, this for all.

Female regulations: The ban on hunting female moose will apply to all of Zone 2 for the 2026 season..

HUNTING LICENSE FOR NON-RESIDENT

Just like a resident hunter, you must respect the rules that apply to the moose zone permit and the obligation
to purchase your permit before midnight on the date indicated if you want to use it during a firearm hunting period.
However, you cannot obtain a permit to hunt adult female moose (random draw).

Furthermore, to hunt moose south of the 52nd parallel, you must, as a non-resident,
use at least two services offered by an outfitter, including accommodation, or hunt in a ZEC or wildlife reserve.

NOTICE: Hunting Rights and Land Sharing

Accessing and hunting on public land is a right for everyone. Therefore, you cannot claim ownership of a hunting area on a controlled harvesting zone (ZEC) or any other public land. As a hunter, you do not have exclusive or priority use of the land to the detriment of other outdoor enthusiasts.

The right to hunt also does not give you permission to access private land without the owner's consent. The owner may use their property as they see fit and may or may not grant you access if you request it. Therefore, be sure to obtain all necessary authorizations before traveling or hunting on private land.
